The challenge

This complex project involved safely decommissioning eight aging offshore wells in the Niger Delta, each presenting unique challenges including severe casing corrosion, sustained pressure, and sand production. Our team implemented a customized multi-barrier isolation system using mechanical plugs and specialized cement blends designed to prevent future gas migration. Advanced ROV inspections and ultrasonic corrosion mapping informed our approach, while our closed-loop waste management system ensured zero environmental discharge. Despite the technical complexities, we completed the project three weeks ahead of schedule with zero safety incidents, recovering $320,000 in reusable materials and setting a new regional benchmark for sustainable well abandonment practices.

project goals

  • Safely plug and abandon wells to DPR standards.

  • Recover 98% of reusable materials.

  • Achieve zero spills or HSE incidents.

the result

  • Completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule with 100% regulatory compliance.

  • Recovered $320K worth of reusable casing and wellhead equipment.

  • Zero spills or recordable safety incidents.
