The challenge

Deploying a 2,500HP rig in the Niger Delta’s challenging swamp terrain required innovative solutions to overcome limited accessibility, unstable soils, and tidal fluctuations. We engineered a modular transport system using GPS-guided barges and composite matting, while our closed-loop drilling fluid system with real-time monitoring achieved 97% fluid reuse. The project incorporated community engagement initiatives and no-flare testing protocols, completing Phase 1 ahead of schedule with 30% faster drilling rates than previous campaigns. Our corrosion-inhibiting equipment treatments and adaptive drilling practices demonstrated how technical excellence and environmental stewardship can deliver exceptional results in harsh operating conditions.

project goals

  • Deliver rig mobilization within 45 days.

  • Reduce NPT to <5% through advanced solids control.

  • Maintain zero community disruptions.

the result

  • Mobilized rig in 38 days via customized modular transport.

  • Achieved 97% drilling fluid reuse with Afrecom’s 4-stage centrifuge system.

  • Zero community grievances due to proactive stakeholder engagement.
